ESCAPE TO GIGGLESWICK (CONTINUED)

Tuesday morning was a dull and rainy day and after a "hearty" breakfast, we met John at the wonderful chapel for the "tour." We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the architecture, the colourful stained-glass windows, the beautifully decorated mosaic ceiling, and the magnificent Organ build by Henry Willis & Son (one of only two of the kind in the World)

Then as it was market day in Settle, we decided to go there for a lunch bite and a quick browse. On our early return to the hotel for free time, some of us braved the weather to create a couple of sketches in the proximity of the Inn.

The evening was "gay" with ample food, drink, and jokes and after dinner, we all met to make plans for the next day. We gathered some local advice and decided, weather "obliging," to visit Malham in the Yorkshire Dales and walk onto the Moors. We were very fortunate to wake up to a clear, sunny day

The roads leading to the village are extremely narrow and bordered by small, rural stonewalls, so when we encountered a lorry we experienced some "adrenaline-rising" manoeuvres, especially for Mike! We arrived in the village of Malham, parked, had a well-deserved coffee, and took off to the hills.

We, then, started our ramble towards Janet Foss falls. That took us through beautiful scenery: fields, small streams, wooded areas, rock cliffs etc. and we eventually reached the falls. There we sat down and did some sketching/ painting and meditating, well inspired by the peaceful but refreshing sight.
