OUR
THANKS TO GARY WHO IS STEPPING DOWN AS TREASURER
Gary
Lewis gave up being Treasurer of the Society at the end of 2003, having
made a great contribution since he joined, more than nine years ago. He
is not sure what caused him to take up art, but he enjoys the peace and
tranquillity that comes with using pencils and watercolours out of doors.
However he also likes wild and cloudy days (see the Giggleswick reports).
He admires Turner's watercolours and the work of Rowland Hilder.
Gary
has exhibited with the Wessex Artists as well as T.A.S. Gary has generously
given time to the society, reducing the time available for his own artistic
works. His greatest gift to the society was the hard work that he did
creating the new display stands. No mean feat! On several occasions he
and his partner have hosted an open air painting evening in the beautiful
garden of his home at Plaitford.
He says that the Society has "very nice people in it", yet Gary's own
sense of humour and ready sympathy has won him many friends in the society.
We hope that he will continue to enjoy his painting and the friendship
of T.A.S. members.
