ASHLETT CHALLENGE
A report by Di
Alexander
I have always
hankered to take part in “Watercolour Challenge” , not for the competition,
but for the luxury of painting out of doors for a whole day. So the
TAS August painting day at Ashlett Creek was the ideal opportunity.
After a little difficulty finding the turning, I found Pat & Tony Weller,
Claire Palmer and Jean Kirby settled in the shade of some trees, facing
the mill.

The weather
remained dry and it was extremely pleasant to sit and chat, sketching
and mixing colours. A few people stopped to have a look at our efforts.
One lady tourist was a fellow amateur artist, who wanted to hear about
our society and its activities. We gave her our website address. The
others made several sketches, including the mill.
At the end of
the day, I took home a watercolour painting of the “Jolly Sailor” pub
where I had eaten lunch. Thank you Claire, for organising such a great
day and providing the “Watercolour Challenge” experience. Some art societies
hold outdoor painting sessions several times a year, so I hope that
when we do it again you will join us.
