GIGGLESWEEK
Silly
Verse by Pati Totton Art Society's very own poet (Pat Garvey)
A
smashing time was had by all,
Up
the hills the van did crawl,
Round
the bends, on one-way tracks,
Good
thing that we wore our slacks,
Around
the market in the rain,
Then
we saw an old steam train,
Eventually headed back to base,
Combed
our hair and washed our face.
Giggles
and laughter ran amock,
Giving
the locals quite a shock,
There
we sat to have our dinner,
Hoping
after, we would be thinner
The
only time we ha d some hush,
Laughing
aloud was far too much,
Excitement
was too much to bear,
Then
wondering what knickers to wear,
The
cows and sheep were all around,
Trying
to keep their feet on the ground, [because a helicopter was airlifting
them]
Morning
breakfast, then a general chat,
Have
our suntan cream and wear a hat,
Another
new adventure, off we all go,
Like
naughty little children, all in a row,
Letting us loose on the Yorkshire Dales,
In every pub, trying out the ales,
Queen
Anne was sitting on her throne,
Talking to Phillip on her phone,
We,
her subjects were getting a lot of stick,
So
we decided to go and take the Mick,
A
“Sixties” Night was well arranged,
We
must have looked well deranged,
The
wildest night of the holiday
Was
a sight to see, I should say.
We’re
the travelling lot from Totton,
Once
you’ve seen us, we’re never forgotten.
