David has decided to step down as Vice-Chairman this year and we will miss his short speeches given with dignity, precision and a dry sense of humour. David sketches out of doors and his drawings are works of art in their own right. He is generous with his time and has tutored many workshops demonstrating a skill with watercolour and line and wash that we would all like to emulate. We would all like to thank David for all that he has done for the society over the years and hope that he will remain a member for many more years to come.

TEA & BISCUIT NOW 30P PER CUP FOLLOWING
INCREASE IN HALL HIRE CHARGES

Still excellent value the interval refreshments are now 30p for a cup of tea and biscuit. The increase is necessary because profits from both refreshments and raffle plummeted during 2005, while at the same time, hall hire fees rose.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2006/7

Like a magician pulling brightly coloured flags from a hat, Programme Manager Claire Palmer has set up a wonderful programme of demonstrations for the coming year.

Sharon Hurst will be coming to demonstrate her imaginative fantasy scenes, so if we are lucky, we might see a dragon or two.

Artist Geoff Thorpe paints lovely soft, misty scenes in various media. This time he will use watercolours to produce stunning paintings.
Experienced artist Jill McKay holds workshops and courses at her studio in Ferndown, She will demonstrate Gouache.

Adventurous artist Cherie Wheatcroft paints wildlife anywhere from Marwell to Botswana. She will be painting in oils for us and her subject could be animal, landscape or floral.

Colin Courtice will return to demonstrate his pastel techniques. He may choose a forest scene, but there is no guarantee. His weekend workshops at Burley grow popular each year.

Another regular visitor to Totton is Tony Mercier who will be using acrylics. His forest scenes are well-known to many of us.

Thanks to Claire for doing such a wonderful job organising all the demonstrations and workshops throughout the year. We send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery from her operation. Thanks to her, all of us enjoying this year's programme will indeed, as the theatre slogan boasts, "Feel the Magic".
