Garden Path Painting

Garden Path by Mary Maskell

Q: What part has painting played in your life?

A: "As I have always enjoyed the more creative elements of life, painting became an important area for expressing my love of colour, flowers, shape etc.
I love getting excited about a scene or an expanse of colour and try to take a photograph to remind me.
I could combine it with my working abilities to sit on committees and organise and do the secretarial duties. Painting is my main interest to get engrossed in it andh - never enough time - even now!!"

Mary Maskell

Storm Coming Painting

Storm Coming by David Butcher

Q: What made you take up painting?

A: "Initially my Art teacher at school, but after many dormant and "start-stop" years, it was rekindled about 5 years ago when I became semi-retired."

Totton Art Society Goes to Bitterne Park School

On the 23rd June 2007, two young [?!] members went to Bitterne Park School, having been roped in as face painters. A new experience for me, but my companion had some experience. We arrived early and helped to set up. Weather at this point was lovely, but the forecast was nasty. So we laid up the tables, then this eighties pop music started and we danced through the playground whilst everyone else carried on with their work. Only two daft women could do this. Any way, time came to start the face painting . First (and to my relief) was my grand-daughter - easy! Then my companion had children requesting all sorts of ideas. It was such fun and then at twelve the heavens opened and we ran for shelter collecting our paints, and so it ended. One big drawback was-we were a success and have been asked to go back at Christmas, which we accepted. I am just glad we now have had a little experience in painting.
