Claire Palmer with artist Laurence Coulson

CLAIRE PALMER DISCOVERS LAWRENCE COULSON

I have been painting since 1991 and have had the same experience as may of you i.e. I developed a sytle, expanded it with experience and progressed from naïve attempts to saleable paintings.

A couple of years ago I saw an artist's work which stopped me in my tracks and made me look at the world with different eyes. I found colour and a freer way of painting. I loosened up and let the mood and atmosphere take over. Tha artist who had this effect on me was Lawrence Coulson.

Anne Hamerton and I received an invitation to a reception given for him at Castle gallery at the end of April and along we went, didn't need any persuading. We met htis lovely man who was so welcoming, and quite chuffed that he had had an effect on another painter.

Now as you know, Anne is not clow in coming forward, hardly call her a shrinking violet, so she asked could she take a photo of me with him, for our newsletter and so here it is. We also asked him about doing a demo in the future and he didn't dismiss the idea out of hand, so I will foloow that up, depending on cost.
